How to become a regular donor

Published 2025-12-04

Becoming a regular donor is one of the most effective ways to support a steady blood supply. Regular donors provide predictable inventory levels and are especially valuable for components with short shelf lives, like platelets.

Set a schedule

Check local donation interval rules (for whole blood it's commonly 8–12 weeks). Put reminders on your calendar or use a blood service app to receive notifications when you’re eligible again.

Make it social

Bring friends or family to donation events, join group drives, or start a workplace program. Shared experiences encourage commitment and help normalize donation as a community activity.

Track your impact

Many donors find motivation in knowing the difference they make — track your donations, note occasions when donations coincided with community needs, and celebrate milestones to keep the habit going.
